McFatridge has been named general manager-rawmaterials for U S Steel's European operations.William J. McFadden hasreplaced McFatridge as general manager-raw materials for U S. Steel's NorthAmerican operations.McFatridge and McFadden both report to VicePresident-Procurement, Raw Materials & Real Estate Michael J. Hatcher.Thechanges were effective May 1.In his new role, McFatridge, 56, will oversee all raw materials purchasingactivities for U S Steel's European operations: U S Steel Kosice in theSlovak Republic and U S.

Steel Serbia in the Republic of Serbia.McFatridgebegan his U S. Steel career in 1974 as a management associate for the Elgin,Joliet and Eastern Railway Company (EJ&E).Over the next 29 years, headvanced through increasingly responsible positions at EJ&E, in the accountingand finance organizations at the former South Works and at Gary Works, thepurchasing department at the company's Merrillville, Ind., location, and theaccounting, finance and business planning organizations at USS-POSCOIndustries, a U S. Steel joint venture in Pittsburg, Calif.In 2003, McFatridge relocated to the Slovak Republic to serve as managingdirector-purchasing at U S. Steel Kosice.He returned to the United Statesin 2005 after being named general manager-global materials management atcorporate headquarters.In 2007, McFatridge was named chief financial officer of United Spiral Pipe, aspiral welded tubular products joint venture in Pittsburg, Calif., that wasformed in April 2007.He advanced to his most recent position, generalmanager-raw materials at corporate headquarters, in June 2008.McFatridge is a native of Royal Center, Ind., and graduated from IndianaUniversity Bloomington in 1973 with a bachelor's degree in economics.He willrelocate to the Slovak Republic.McFadden, 44, will be responsible for raw materials purchasing activities forU S Steel's North American operations.McFadden joined U S.
