Paul Stastny Leaves Avs For St. Louis
" DENVER (CBS4/AP) - Paul Stastny, a fixture of the Colorado Avalanche over the last eight seasons, has signed a four-year contract with the St. Louis Blues.

The deal was first reported by TSN in Canada. TSN says Stastny will earn an average of $7 million a season.

Stastny scored 25 goals and dished out 35 assists in 71 games with the Avalanche last season. He has 160 career goals and 298 assists.

His $7 million salary in 2013-14 was the highest on the Avalanche roster. He was an unrestricted free agent.

Two weeks ago, coach Joe Sakic said he was optimistic about bringing Stastny back.

Stastny, 28, played for the University of Denver, helping the school win a national championship in 2005. Colorado selected him in the second round the same year. He is a St. Louis native, and his father, Hall of Famer Peter Stastny, and brother, Yan, played for the Blues.

The Associated Press reported Tuesday the Avalanche had signed forward Jarome Iginla to a three-year contract worth $16 million.

Iginla scored 30 goals and had 31 assists in 78 games with the Boston Bruins last season "
