Team Grades: Broncos Handle Business, Earn Great Grade On Defense

" Oh, the wild, wild AFC West.

Where else could you find a rough and tumble game develop between likely the worst team in the NFL and a legitimate Super Bowl contender? The Oakland Raiders sure didn’t play like an 0-9 team during the first half. Instead, the swashbucklers fed off the Denver Broncos’ bad play, leading 10-6 in the second quarter following two Peyton Manning interceptions.

Then, it happened. When the Broncos needed it most, Mr. Anderson looked like he was in “The Matrix,” spinning off one defender, stiff arming another and making five men miss in total on his way to the end zone. It was “the One” play the team needed. C.J. Anderson’s 51-yard touchdown catch and run was the turning point of the game, as the Broncos scored 35-straight points to win 41-17.

Onto the grades. It was far from perfect, but still a very solid effort all-around by Denver.

Offense: B

Simply stated, Manning was off during the first half. His second pass of the game floated over Emmanuel Sanders’ head and into a waiting Raider’s hands, and that was only the start of his troubles "
